New research into how the brain works by Semir Zeki, Professor of Neurobiology and Neuroesthetics at University College London has uncovered how our brains react when we look at art. It tells us art induces a feel good sensation direct to the brain. When they experience beauty there are areas of the brain which activity goes up significantly.
"What we found is when you look at art – whether it is a landscape, a still life, an abstract or a portrait – there is strong activity in that part of the brain related to pleasure.
