but the visuals still convey some of the stories, which are not all without interest.Personal Velocity' is a kind of omnibus film, three stories, each quite distinct, but all by the same author, Rebecca Miller, who has adapted them and directed them for her own movie, directing three different women in the main roles in each.Personal Velocity is one of the most beautifully shot digital films I have ever seen. The heavy-handed voiceover narration makes the movie feel like a dreary lecture or book on tape. In other words, a little goes a LONG way. I say "sometimes," because in effect it's a grad-school literary device that many too many would-be writers deploy when they can't be bothered to follow a through-line or commit themselves to a real ending and because somebody gave them the idiotic idea that ambiguity was cool and artsy. I'd love to see a DVD alternative version without it.Not much, it is way too subtle for me to understand what these 3 women's lives and stories have in common.
